Flamingos are an amazing species of animal that have adapted to living in extreme conditions where few other species can survive. Known as extremophiles, they have evolved special abilities to cope with high levels of UV radiation, extreme heat and cold temperatures, allowing them to find unique feeding and nesting areas away from competition. Flamingos are wonderfully flamboyant and graceful, but most of all its their resilience and adaptability that inspires us. Climate change is here and cricket has to be more Flamingo!

No. The UN’s Sport for Climate Action Framework launched in 2016 by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and some of the leading sport entities, has the aim of providing a systematic framework to the multiple, fragmented initiatives already in existence. The ICC, the governing body of cricket, has yet to sign up to this.

We formed in August, 2023. However there was a Flamingo Cricket Club that came before us, which formed in 1959 at a meeting held at the Crown Hotel, Eastleigh. For most of their history the original Flamingo Cricket Club played in Upham, a small village 7 miles south of Winchester and 7 miles east of Eastleigh. The club punched above its weight for many years in the Hampshire League, winning the County Division 1 Championship and Tichbourne Trophy in 2000. Unfortunately the club folded on the eve of the 2016 season due to a shortage of players. Whilst there is no relation between then and now, we’ll always admire and celebrate the history and enterprising spirit of the original Flamingo Cricket Club.

No we don’t offer monthly payments. Our website shows how the membership fee works out on a monthly basis but we only take payments quarterly or yearly, the choice is yours.
